The Tornado project was born from the collaboration of Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom for the construction of a high-performance multi-role combat aircraft.Thus a twin-engine aircraft was developed, with a two-seater configuration and wings with variable geometry to better respond to its main role: a low-altitude supersonic fighter-bomber able to “follow” the profile of the terrain.The Tornado IDS (Interdictor/strike), ideal for attack missions, was the first to be used by the flight operations departments of the three countries that developed the project.The ECR (Electronic Combat/ Reconnaissance) version was also built from the original project.The Tornado IDS has been used in several scenarios where it has been able to demonstrate its operational efficiency.
