This easy-to-assemble Accurail 50′ Welded-Side Plug-Door Boxcar kit is based on widely used 50′ boxcars. New safety rules beginning in the 1960s required the removal of roofwalks on boxcars, and in the process ladders and brakewheels were also lowered. New cars were constructed without roofwalks. The car features a one-piece detailed injection-molded plastic body with most details molded in place for durability during operation. Other features include realistic decoration with end reporting marks (on decorated models), underbody details, trucks with Delrin wheelsets, nonmagnetic axles and AccuMate(R) magnetic knuckle couplers.
