These newly tooled cars from WalthersMainline will be a signature addition to HO freight service on 1960s to 1980s layouts! Following adoption of new safety standards, railroads began rebuilding older boxcars by removing the running boards and mounts, and lowering most of the side ladders but retaining the high-mounted hand brakes and ladders on the “B” end. Many soldiered on well into the 1980s serving all kinds of shippers and receiving industries. This brand-new body style captures all the period details of the prototypes, and they’re factory-finished in the bigger, bolder schemes of the era. Other authentic details include a 10-panel welded body, 8′ Youngstown doors, late Stanray 4/4 improved Dreadnaught ends and a Stanray diagonal panel roof.
