Revolutionize HO Piggyback Service with WalthersMainline! Introduced in 1955, these 75′ long flatcars completely changed the way railroads looked at trailer-on-flatcar piggyback traffic, and ushered in the intermodal age of today. Based on the original F39a class built for the Pennsylvania Truc-Train service that later became the core of the Trailer Train fleet, these limited-run HO cars are available in a variety of authentic schemes. Along with period paint and lettering, each model also features the prototype’s unique side rub rails (which kept trailers from being pushed off during loading) and two raised hitches. A die-cast metal underframe for extra weight and superb operation, improved brake gear details, correct coupler height and more round out each model.
